Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California

Bakersfield, CA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident Reported on Highway 99 near Panama LnBetween 2009 and 2018, more than 7,500 pedestrians lost their lives in fatal crashes across our state. Far too often, these accidents are attributed to negligence. Leading factors in fatal accidents reported in California include:

  • Drivers who operate their vehicles at a high rate of speed.
  • Drivers who are texting while behind the wheel.
  • Drivers who run red lights or pass stop signs while traveling through intersections.
  • Drivers who are intoxicated by alcohol.
  • Drivers who are impaired by over-the-counter or illegal drugs.

When drivers fail to act responsibly while behind the wheels of their cars, they leave the lives of everyone nearby at risk. This is particularly true for pedestrians, who are already susceptible to suffering significant injuries in crashes due to the fact that they have no protection.
