Half Moon Bay, CA (February 11, 2023) – A 75-year-old bicyclist has died following a crash that took place in Half Moon Bay on Thursday afternoon, February 9.
According to law enforcement, at around 3 p.m., a bicyclist was riding in the 500 block of Kelly Avenue in Half Moon Bay.
For unknown reasons, they were struck by a 2001 gold-colored GMC Yukon in the area near Cabrillo Highway.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the accident and located the bicyclist suffering from severe injuries. The 75-year-old male bicyclist was rushed to an area hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 18-year-old Miguel José JaurezPerez, was arrested and is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and suspicion of driving without a license.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the collision.
