Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California
Hundreds of people die as a result of pedestrian accidents in the state of California every year. In many cases, families are left struggling to move forward. These accidents bring forth overwhelming pain and suffering. Not only do families struggle mentally and emotionally, but often financially as well. Trying to cover tens of thousands of dollars in funeral costs, medical expenses, and other damages can be incredibly difficult. Unfortunately, many people end up dying in these accidents as a result of motorist negligence.
Many accidents that we see in California are preventable. There are several actions that continually contribute to fatal pedestrian accidents in California. These include:
- Speeding motorists: Without a doubt, traveling at too high of a speed can make it difficult for drivers to avoid striking pedestrians who cross the roadway. It can also increase the chances of drivers losing control of their vehicles and going off the road.
- Failing to yield: When drivers fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and in various locations, it can lead to fatal accidents.
- Intersection accidents: It is incredibly common for drivers to turn quickly at intersections without checking for pedestrians. Unfortunately, this often leads to severe and fatal consequences for the involved pedestrians.
- Distractions: Far too often, we see pedestrians lose their lives as a result of crashes that are caused by drivers who are using their cell phones or are distracted by other means.
