Madera County, CA (February 14, 2023) – One person died as a result of a head-on collision that took place in Madera County on Sunday evening.
On February 12, the California Highway Patrol responded to provide assistance at the scene of an automobile accident at around 6 p.m. on Highway 41.
According to reports, 24-year-old Lorenzo Antonio Morales Cortes was operating a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro while driving on Highway 41. For unknown reasons, he drove his vehicle over the center line and crashed head-on into a Mini Cooper near Avenue 15.
A 19-year-old female involved in the crash was fatally injured. She was declared dead from her injuries by authorities.
A second person involved in the accident was severely injured. They were transported to an area trauma center.
Authorities believe that alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
Investigations surrounding the accident are currently underway.
