Riverdale, CA (February 14, 2023) – A 16-year-old male has died as a result of a drunk-driving accident that took place on Sunday morning in the Riverdale area.

The accident was reported just before 5:30 a.m. on February 12.

According to reports from the police, 25-year-old Erick Torres was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle near Elkhorn Avenue and Jameson Avenue. The vehicle was involved in a collision and rolled over several times after going off the roadway.

A 16-year-old involved in the accident was ejected. Emergency crews arrived at the scene to provide treatment to the victim. However, he passed away at the scene.

Two other victims were treated for injuries.

Authorities confirmed that Torres was taken into custody and faces charges of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol.
