Oxnard, CA (February 16, 2023) – Authorities in Oxnard have confirmed that 44-year-old Annette Gomez and 31-year-old Samuel Castro have died as a result of a vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday morning, February 12.
According to reports provided by the California Highway Patrol, 31-year-old Samuel Castro was driving a 2020 Honda Civic West along Fifth Avenue during the morning hours.
For unknown reasons, his vehicle collided with a 2022 Hyundai Sonata, which was traveling west on the road near Portofino Place. The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to spin out and come to rest in the eastbound lane.
Castro and a 44-year-old woman involved in the accident, identified as Annette Gomez of Adelanto, California, were both fatally injured. Castro was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gomez was transported to an area hospital, where she later died.
The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
