California Bicycle Accidents
A great method to get around while also reducing your carbon footprint is riding a bicycle. In the unfortunate case of a catastrophic car accident, bikers are more exposed to the dangers of the road, meaning that they are more likely to be seriously injured. California typically ranks first or second in the country for the total number of fatal bicycle accidents, and the most recent statistics on bicycle accidents show that 141 cyclists were killed last year on the state’s roadways. Bicycle-related deaths in motor accidents accounted for 3–4% of all fatalities in the state, exceeding the 2% national average.
Having a California bicycle accident lawyer handle your case will give you the best chance of being compensated after your accident. Most cyclists are aware of the dangers of bicycle travel, they take precautions to avoid getting hurt, and they never plan on being the victim of a serious cycling accident. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do to avoid being hit by a driver who is acting negligently. An experienced bicycle accident attorney can represent you in talks with the driver’s insurance company and assist you with the often extended process of recovery.
After a bicycle accident, the injured rider will have to sue the driver who caused the crash in order to pursue damages in a personal injury claim. However, the procedure for submitting a claim can be challenging since it often requires expensive and experienced analysis and testimony to demonstrate that the other person was responsible. You may think that your case is a sure thing, but it is often harder to recover the full value of your case than it may appear.
