Hemet, CA (February 17, 2023) – A three-vehicle accident in Hemet on Wednesday, February 15, left one person dead and four others injured.
The deadly accident took place on Ramona Expressway near Lincoln Avenue at around 2 p.m. It was reported that 90-year-old Irma Higgins of Riverside was riding in a 2020 Chevrolet Spark driven by her 73-year-old daughter. The vehicle was stopped on the highway when it entered the intersection and was hit by a 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup truck driven by a 35-year-old Beaumont man.
The impact pushed the Chevy into a 2018 Toyota Sienna minivan. Irma and her daughter had to be extricated from the vehicle. Higgins was transported to Riverside University Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead, and her daughter was airlifted to a local trauma center in critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan and their two children were also hurt in the crash.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
