California Fatal Car Accidents
California has more fatal car accidents than any other state simply because there are more people living here. Fortunately, California is not the state with the highest number of traffic fatalities per capita or per mile of vehicle traveled. The state reported 7.8 traffic fatalities per 100,000 residents in 2013, compared to the national average of 10.3 fatalities per 100,000 residents. However, a serious car accident can still send your or your loved one’s life reeling, and you need to make sure you are prepared if you find yourself the victim of a serious car accident.
It is only natural that you and your loved ones are suffering from the psychological and emotional stress associated with your loss when a terrible accident strikes your family. When a loved one’s death was caused by the carelessness or deliberate actions of another person, your grief is often magnified. Losing a loved one is never easy, but if that death was brought on by someone else’s negligent actions, it can be even more difficult to bear.
Your loved one might still be alive today if the other person had only taken reasonable efforts to avoid a catastrophic accident. In a wrongful death case, you have the option to pursue legal redress and hold the person responsible for your loved one’s death accountable. You need to speak with an attorney to see if you have grounds of a wrongful death claim and to determine what damages may be available to you.
We at Wilshire Law Firm are aware of the suffering that families go through when a family member passes away as a result of someone else’s negligence, and we want to help you get back on your feet as soon as possible. While a wrongful death claim will never be enough to compensate for the loss of a loved one, it may be able to help families deal with the financial fallout from the tragedy.
