Eastvale, CA (February 21, 2023) – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 70-year-old Daniel Beavers died as a result of the pedestrian accident that took place on Thursday evening in Eastvale at approximately 6:35 p.m. on February 16, the Sheriff’s office was dispatched to provide assistance on-site at a crash that occurred on Sumner Avenue.
Preliminary reports provided by RCSO show that 56-year-old Cathie Jiaping Lee was driving in the area of Sumner Avenue and 67th Street when she ran over Beavers with her black Mercedes-Benz as he attempted to cross the roadway.
Lee fled the scene of the accident without stopping. Shortly after leaving, she was taken into police custody and booked into prison on a suspicion of a hit-and-run resulting in great bodily injury or death.
Beavers suffered fatal injuries in the accident. Even though he received lifesaving measures from paramedics at the scene, he was pronounced deceased on site.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s office is currently investigating the accident.
