California Pedestrian Accidents

Los Angeles, CA - Pedestrian Injured in Crash at Weyburn Ave & Weyburn TerAround 7,000 people died in pedestrian accidents on state and federal highways in 2020. On average, a pedestrian dies every 75 minutes, and one in every six people killed in accidents in 2020 were pedestrians. In the same year, 104,000 pedestrians are thought to have received non-fatal crash-related medical care in emergency departments. A competent attorney should be consulted by those who have suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident to examine their entitlement to compensation.

Due to the lack of protection that pedestrians have in the event of an accident, pedestrian accidents are different from other types of accidents. The average car weighs at least 4,000 pounds, and those who are riding in them are protected not just by seat belts but also by airbags. Helmets are usually used by bikers as well to protect them. Meanwhile, the circumstances in which the majority of pedestrian accidents take place leave pedestrians utterly helpless and vulnerable in the case of someone else’s negligence.

Accidents involving pedestrians frequently result in serious injuries or even fatalities for those unfortunate enough to be involved. Head trauma, such as concussions or brain bleeds, traumatic brain injuries, and many other disabling injuries, are frequently sustained by pedestrians in accidents. Many injuries sustained in pedestrian accidents may have a long-term or functional impact.
