Truck Accidents in California
Every year, nearly 3,000 truck accidents are reported in the state of California that result in injuries. Although any type of truck accident can have a potentially serious impact on the lives of those involved, rear-end collisions are often some of the most devastating.
There are several reasons why rear-end accidents continue to take place often. Following a vehicle too closely, sometimes known as tailgating, is one of the most prevalent causes of rear-end collisions. This occurs when a driver fails to allow sufficient space between their vehicle and the vehicle in front of them. This can make it difficult for a vehicle to stop in time to avoid crashing into the one in front of them.
Distracted driving is another significant contributor to incidents involving rear-end impact. This might include anything from sending a text message while driving to simply take in your attention off the road to talk to a passenger. Even if a driver takes their eyes off the road for a split second, they greatly increase their risk of missing a brake light or turn signal, which can result in a collision.
Last but not least, we see a significant number of rear-end accidents take place as a result of speeding motorists. When drivers exceed the speed limit that is imposed, they leave themselves with less time to respond appropriately to unexpected shifts in the surrounding traffic or the weather.
