Hayward, CA (February 22, 2023) – On February 19, troopers with the Hayward Police Department responded to the scene of an automobile accident during the evening hours that claimed the life of a 50-year-old man.
Calls for help were received at around 730 p.m. regarding an automobile accident on West Winton Avenue.
According to law enforcement, a 50-year-old man was driving a car in the area of West Winton Avenue and Clawiter Road during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a second car at the intersection, which was driven by a 22-year-old man.
The 50-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 22-year-old man remained at the scene of the accident. The driver was suspected of driving under the influence.
The police department is currently investigating the incident.
