Otay Mesa, CA (February 22, 2023) – A 43-year-old man has lost his life following an automobile accident that took place in the Otay Mesa area on Sunday evening.
Just after 8:00 p.m. on February 19, authorities were notified that their assistance was needed on-site after an automobile accident on La Media Road.
According to officials, a 43-year-old man was running a Vespa-style motor scooter while traveling on La Media Road during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, he was run over by a semi-truck in the area near Airway Road.
The man was severely hurt as a result of the accident. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and located the rider lying on the ground near the intersection.
The victim suffered severe injuries to the skull and ribs. Despite the best medical efforts performed by personnel that responded to the scene, the victim passed away from his injuries while on-site.
There California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the accident.
