Car Accidents in California
Every day, serious motor vehicle accidents are reported in the state of California. Quite often, these accidents result in serious injuries for those involved.
If you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, it is important to understand the legal options that you have. Following a crash in California, you can file a personal injury claim against the person who is responsible. While filing this claim, it is important that you are able to prove negligence. Although showing that a driver was speeding, distracted, or engaging in another reckless action while behind the wheel can seem like it should be enough to prove your case and help you prevail, the insurance company will do everything they can to shift the blame onto you.
In California, victims who are injured in accidents can seek financial compensation for lost wages, medical costs, and more. Insurance companies are well aware of the comparative negligence laws in our state. For this reason, they will try to shift the blame onto you in order to lessen or eliminate the money that they owe. The comparative negligence law states that you are share of responsibility will be used against you when it comes to providing compensation.
If you contributed to the accident in any way, the amount of compensation you recover would be reduced in the percentage of the fault that you share. It is important that you reach out to a car accident lawyer in Orland to provide yourself with the best chance of maximizing the compensation you are able to recover.
