Car Accidents in California
Every day, car accidents that occur in California have a life-altering impact on those involved. We see tens of thousands of people annually hospitalized with severe trauma to the head, internal organ injuries, and even broken bones due to vehicle collisions. In the vast majority of cases, people are harmed in accidents due to the reckless and careless actions of other motorists.
When innocent people are hurt as a result of car accidents, they are often able to take legal action against the responsible party. A San Luis Obispo car accident lawyer can provide you with the best chance of maximizing your recovery after being injured in an accident due to the negligence of another driver.
Following your crash, your attorney will be able to investigate the accident and gather evidence for you. They will compile the evidence into a strong case against the defendant and demand for compensation for your losses and damages.
In California, the compensation that victims recover is provided to them based on the comparative negligence laws. This law states that the amount of damages a victim can recover shall be equal to the percentage of fault shared by the defendant. If a victim shares any portion of the responsibility for the accident taking place, the amount of damages they are able to recover will be reduced based on their percentage of fault. For this reason, it is important that you have a knowledgeable legal team by your side who can demand full compensation from the defendant.
