Cottonwood, CA (February 27, 2023) – A person was hospitalized following a crash that took place on Saturday morning in Shasta County. The accident was reported to the California Highway Patrol at approximately 5:10 a.m. on February 25.
According to officials, a Nissan Pathfinder and a 2015 Volvo truck tractor-trailer collided on the northbound side of Cascade Wonderland Highway, Interstate 5.
The incident caused severe disruptions in the area near the Cottonwood Bridge, just north of the Shasta and Tehama County lines. The Pathfinder was severely damaged in the accident and had to be removed from the scene by a tow truck company.
One person suffered injuries as a result of the accident. Paramedics were called to care for the victim and to provide them with transportation to a local hospital.
The California Highway Patrol has launched an investigation to determine what caused the accident to take place.
