Car Accidents in California

Napa, CA – Auto Accident on E Thompson Ave near SR-12 Ends in InjuriesCar accidents in California leave hundreds of people injured every day. The majority of traffic collisions are avoidable and are brought on by drivers who make the decision to act negligently while they are behind the wheel.

One common factor in many accidents across our state is drivers who are speeding. Speed limits are on the road to keep drivers safe and who provide them with the ability to operate their vehicles safely based on the road conditions in the area. When drivers exceed the posted speed limit, they run the risk of losing control of their vehicles and crashing into others. Speeding also increases the likelihood that a vehicle will drift into another lane and crash into other vehicles.

Another common factor in car accidents that we see here in California quite often is alcohol. When drivers are under the influence of alcohol, they are likely to drift into other lanes, fail to come to stops and intersections, and crash into other drivers nearby. Impairment significantly impacts a driver’s ability to make responsible and knowledgeable decisions while behind the wheel. As a result, we see many accidents take place as a result of impairment.

Finally, distractions are increasingly common across the state of California when it comes to motor vehicle accidents. Given the dramatic increase in the number of people utilizing cell phones that has swept across the nation in the last ten years, it is no surprise that more and more accidents are taking place as a result of drivers who are texting, talking, or even browsing social media.
