Pedestrian Accidents in California
Pedestrian accidents leave thousands of people in California injured every year. The unfortunate truth is that many people are forced to deal with overwhelming consequences due to the reckless and negligent actions of other drivers. We see countless pedestrians left with significant trauma to the head, broken bones, and even internal organ injuries due to accidents.
The fact that pedestrians have no protection at all during accidents leaves them completely vulnerable and more susceptible to suffering life-altering injuries that require extensive medical care.
Pedestrians who are injured as a result of accidents are able to seek financial compensation for some of the losses and damages that they face. Filing a personal injury lawsuit can help you seek financial compensation for your medical costs, lost earnings, pain and suffering, and more.
When filing a personal injury claim, pedestrians are able to recover compensation even if they are partially at fault for their accidents. However, courts will take this into consideration when providing compensation for the damages they face. In these circumstances, the amount of fault that a person contributed to their accident will be considered and has a reduction to the amount of damages they can recover. For example, if a person contributed 5% to the fault of their accident, the amount of compensation they recover will be reduced by a total of 5%. So if a person is found to have suffered $100,000 damages that they suffered, and their case was successful, the court will provide them with $95,000. To provide yourself with the best chance of maximizing the compensation you recover, you must reach out to a Berkeley pedestrian accident lawyer immediately.
