Bicycle Accidents in California
Bicycle accidents can be incredibly devastating. Like other types of pedestrians, these victims do not have protection during accidents. Even in cases where victims are wearing helmets, they are still at significant risk of suffering severe compound fractures, spinal cord injuries, and even trauma to the head.
Bicyclists are often left with serious injuries as a result of accidents caused by negligent and reckless drivers. We see far too many bicyclists suffer serious injuries as a result of drivers who are speeding, intoxicated, distracted, or engaging in other reckless actions while behind the wheel.
Unfortunately, victims of bicycle accidents are often forced to go through extensive medical treatment and spend extended time off work to recover. Following a bicycle accident, victims may be able to take legal actions against the responsible drivers.
In California, victims of bicycle crashes are able to seek compensation to cover some of the damages that they face. After an accident, victims are able to recover compensation for medical costs, lost wages, and more. Under comparative negligence laws in our states, victims who contribute to their accidents in any way are able to recover compensation for the damages caused by the defendant. The amount of money that they receive will be reduced according to the percentage of fault that they share for the accident.
Insurance companies are well aware of the comparative negligence laws in our state. For this reason, they do everything in their power to try to shift the blame onto the victims. For this reason, it is in your best interest to hire a Stanford bicycle accident lawyer immediately after your accident.
