Bakersfield, CA (March 6, 2023) – A motor vehicle accident took place in the Bakersfield area on Saturday morning that claimed two people’s lives.
The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a crash on Highway 99 at approximately 3:00 a.m. on March 4.
According to officials, a Dodge pickup truck and a Honda passenger sedan collided on the southbound side of the highway near Hosking Avenue. The Honda caught on fire after the accident.
The incident prompted officials to close off multiple lanes on the road as they provided assistance with clearing the area.
An adult male and a 15-year-old female inside the Honda both suffered fatal injuries. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
