Car Accidents in California
Motor vehicle crashes occur daily in California. Quite often, people involved in these accidents are left with severe injuries that result in the need for extensive medical care. Spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, neck and soft tissue injuries, and other significant injuries from car crashes can have an overwhelming impact on the lives of victims. Unfortunately, innocent people continue to pay the ultimate price daily as a result of accidents here in California.
The majority of accidents that take place are caused by drivers who are reckless and negligent. When drivers fail to operate their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, they can cause severe harm to other people sharing the road. Regrettably, drivers who speed, operate their vehicle while impaired, or engage in other negligent actions continue to cause harm daily to innocent people sharing the road.
If another person’s negligent or reckless actions have caused an accident that left you with significant injuries, you may be able to file a claim for compensation against them. In California, awards for compensation are provided to victims based on the doctrine of comparative negligence. This law states that if you contributed to the accident in any way, you still have the ability to seek compensation for your damages. However, the money that you are able to recover will be reduced based on the amount of fault you share for the crash. For this reason, it is in your best interest to hire a car accident lawyer in California to represent you throughout the duration of your claim. Your attorney will be able to prove the defendant was negligent and fight for fair compensation on your behalf.
