Bakersfield, CA (March 9, 2023) – Authorities have confirmed that one person has died as a result of an automobile accident that took place near Lost Hills on Tuesday evening, March 7.

Just after 7:30 p.m., authorities were called to the scene of an automobile accident that took place on the Interstate 5 Freeway.

Preliminary reports indicate that a Volkswagen Jetta and a semi-truck tractor-trailer collided on the interstate in the area near Twisselman Road. The incident prompted officials to close off the road as they provided assistance.

The driver of the Volkswagen became trapped inside their vehicle. Firefighters responded to the scene to remove the victim.

One person involved in the accident, who has not yet been publicly identified, was fatally injured. The Kern County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to pronounce the victim deceased.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated.
