Bicycle Accidents in California
Bicycle accidents are incredibly devastating in most cases. Victims are often left with serious injuries that require medical care. We see many bicyclists suffer severe trauma to the head, despite the fact that many of them wear helmets. There are also many instances where victims suffer neck and soft tissue injuries and their accidents. The force of the impact can result in significant trauma to the neck and the upper body. In addition, we see many bicyclists left with broken bones, severe compound fractures, and even internal organ injuries. These injuries can be incredibly hard to overcome.
In many cases, bicyclists are hurt as a result of accidents caused by negligent motorists. When drivers fail to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly and with consideration for others around, they can cause serious harm.
Bicyclists are often victimized by reckless drivers who whip their doors open into bicycle lanes without checking. In these cases, their doors can strike bicyclists and cause them to be ejected onto the roadway, where they could be struck by other vehicles.
We also see a significant number of bicycle accidents take place at intersections, where drivers turn without checking the bicycle lanes. Making a turn at an intersection without looking for bicyclists can cause them to be struck and severely harmed. Unfortunately, these and other acts of negligence continue to contribute to automobile accidents in our state every day.
After suffering debilitating injuries in an accident, bicyclists are able to take legal action and hold negligent drivers accountable. Gaining a sense of justice in the aftermath of an accident can help you through the recovery process and beyond.
