Car Accidents in California
Every day, car crashes take place daily in California, which forever alters the way victims live. Victims who suffer from spinal cord injuries, trauma to the face and head, neck and soft tissue injuries, and other serious injuries often had to go through extensive medical care and are unable to work for several weeks or months. In severe cases, victims may require months of treatment.
Unfortunately, victims involved in accidents are often left with overwhelming financial consequences as well. In the aftermath of a car crash, you have the ability to file a claim for compensation against the responsible party. This is known as a personal injury lawsuit. These claims are filed in civil courts across Los Angeles County. When victims file these cases, they do so in an effort to hold the negligent driver accountable and to recover financial compensation for the damages that they face. Some recoverable damages include:
- Medical expenses: after being injured in an accident, you have the ability to request compensation for your immediate and long-term care needs. This can include surgery, therapy, medication, hospitalization, medical devices, and more.
- Lost wages: if your crash kept you out of work for any amount of time, you can request compensation for all of the lost wages that you have suffered.
- Pain and suffering: you can request compensation for the pain and suffering that your accident has caused. Courts will generally consider the type of injuries you suffered, the extent of care you need, and how much they impact your life.
- Property damage: when your vehicle has been damaged or destroyed, it is crucial that you are able to get the money you need to cover the costs to repair or replace it. A personal injury claim can allow you to do so.
