Pedestrian Accidents in California

Merced, CA – Major Injuries Follow Pedestrian Crash on SR-99 near E Mission AveIt is no secret that pedestrians are far more vulnerable during accidents. The fact that pedestrians have no steel cages to protect them means that they are more likely to suffer more significant injuries. Some injuries that are commonly reported in pedestrian accidents include:

  • Traumatic brain injuries: traumatic brain injuries are especially devastating. People who suffer from these injuries may experience dizziness, balance problems, mood instabilities, problems making decisions, and a variety of other devastating consequences. In some cases, victims may have to go through treatment indefinitely for TBIs.
  • Internal organ injuries: Injuries to the internal organs can be especially life-threatening. This is particularly true if victims do not receive emergency treatment. Unfortunately, these injuries can impact the function of the heart, lungs, liver, and spleen of a victim. Additionally, victims who suffer internal organ injuries may suffer internal bleeding, which can be life-threatening as well.
  • Severe cuts and lacerations: These injuries can be incredibly painful. In severe cases, severe cuts and lacerations can result in nerve and muscle damage. Victims who suffer from these injuries often have to go through emergency medical treatment and may be left with permanent scarring and disfigurement.

Any type of significant injury from a pedestrian accident can require extensive medical care. Dealing with the costs of treatment is not something that people are able to do in many situations. For this reason, it is important that victims are aware of the legal options that are available to help them move forward. A personal injury claim can help an injured party recover financial compensation for medical costs, lost earnings, and more.
