Downey, CA (March 13, 2023) – Two people, including a police officer, were transported to area hospitals following a car crash that took place on Monday morning in Downey.

At around 1:45 a.m. on March 13, authorities were notified that a car crash had taken place on Lakewood Boulevard.

Authorities say that a police SUV and a white sedan collided head-on on Lakewood Boulevard in the area near Columbia way.

The officer, who was on duty at the time of the accident, suffered injuries. The officer and the driver of the sedan, a 25-year-old man, were both transported to area hospitals for further medical care. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the sedan had to be extricated by firefighters.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
