Car Accidents in California

Los Angeles, CA – Five-Vehicle Crash on I-605 near Valley Blvd Ends in InjuriesEvery day, hundreds of people in California are hospitalized with debilitating injuries from motor vehicle accidents. It is also common for victims to suffer severe spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and other significant and life-changing injuries as a result of automobile accidents. When innocent people are harmed in crashes that are caused by the negligent and reckless actions of others, it only makes sense that they are able to get justice.

In California, car crash victims are able to file personal injury claims against those who cause them harm. This type of legal action is designed to provide financial relief for some of the damages that car crash victims often face in the aftermath of a collision. Some of the damages that a claim can help you recover compensation for include:

  • Money to alleviate the lost wages that you have due to having to take time off work to recover following your crash.
  • Any lost earnings that you will experience over your lifetime if the accident leaves you permanently disabled.
  • Any money that you need for your immediate medical costs. This can include money to cover surgery, hospitalization, medication, and more.

You must be able to clearly demonstrate that the negligence of another person caused you harm. It is important to know that even if you contributed to the accident in some way, you are still able to recover compensation for your damages. However, the amount of money that you recover will be reduced by the amount proportionate to the fault that you had for the accident. This means that if you were found to have suffered $100,000 in damages, but you contributed 30 percent in fault to the accident, the amount of money that you would receive from your award would be reduced by 30 percent. For this reason, it is critically important to have the strongest evidence possible for your case against the defendant.
