Pedestrian Accidents in California
Nearly 15,000 pedestrians are injured every year as a result of car crashes here in the state of California. Although any type of vehicle collision has the ability to cause serious harm to those involved, when pedestrian accidents occur, the chances of catastrophic injuries are significantly higher.
Unlike people inside of cars, pedestrians do not have any barrier of protection during accidents. They are forced to deal with the full impact of the collision, which can have devastating consequences.
There are many cases where pedestrians are left with serious injuries that affect their lives forever. Many victims of pedestrian accidents suffer from internal organ injuries, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and even the loss of limbs. Although we hear about pedestrian accidents every day in our state, it is impossible to prepare for the impact that one would have on your life.
Trying to deal with the physical, mental, emotional, and financial consequences of these accidents can be incredibly difficult. Pedestrians and their entire families often struggle to deal with the overwhelming impacts. The unfortunate truth is that victims are often hurt in pedestrian accidents as a result of drivers who fail to maintain control of their vehicles in a manner that is safe for others around.
We continue to see innocent people hurt in pedestrian accidents caused by drunk drivers, distractions, and drivers who are otherwise reckless. It is unfair that victims should have to pay a significant amount of compensation to deal with financial burdens related to medical costs, lost wages, and various other damages following their accidents. Thankfully, our state provides crash victims with the ability to take legal action against those who cause them harm.
