Fatal Car Accidents in California
A fatal accident can have a devastating impact on the lives of surviving relatives. Unfortunately, fatal accidents take the lives of thousands of people in California annually. Quite often, crashes that take the lives of innocent people are entirely preventable. Drivers who speed or engage in other reckless actions continue to be the leading cause of these accidents. Day after day, innocent lives are lost as a result of negligent and reckless drivers.
When victims die in accidents through no fault of their own, families often have legal options that can help them move forward. One of the most common practices that families engage in after losing a loved one is the filing of a wrongful death claim. In California, wrongful death claims can be filed by the surviving spouse of the deceased victim. In addition, children of the deceased victim, surviving parents are siblings, and anyone else who depended upon the victim prior to their passing financially can seek compensation for the damages that they face.
After losing a loved one, it is crucial to act quickly to take legal action. Waiting to file a claim can result in the loss of evidence, which can severely hinder your ability to maximize the compensation you recover.
