Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California
Statistics from 2021 show that more than 980 people died as a result of pedestrian crashes in California. Even though our state has some of the strictest laws in place to protect pedestrians, they continue to lose their lives due to the reckless and irresponsible actions of drivers.
Speeding drivers continue to be one of the leading causes of motor vehicle accidents in our state. Drivers who are traveling too fast will not be able to stop in time to avoid striking a pedestrian, regardless of whether they have the right of way to cross or not.
In addition to speeding, we see many accidents take place due to drivers who fail to yield. When drivers simply disregard the fact that pedestrians have the right-of-way to cross in designated pressing areas, they can crash into them and cause severe harm.
We also see a significant number of pedestrian accidents take place due to drivers who run red lights are passed up signs at busy intersections. These actions are truly a recipe for disaster.
