BIOGRAPHY

Abel Nair is a Senior Attorney at Wilshire Law Firm. Abel brings expertise, diligence, and remarkable passion to the rapidly expanding Employment Department. He is the firm’s leading litigator against public entities with extensive knowledge.

Fulfilling family predictions and inspired by court TV shows, Abel Nair cultivated his desire to be a lawyer and the distinctive passion with which he has practiced his profession for two decades.

Attorney Abel Nair has more than twenty years of experience in civil litigation, with an emphasis on litigating employment matters. His practice ranges from sexual harassment cases involving a single plaintiff to whistleblower retaliation matters involving multiple plaintiffs. He represents employees of public and private organizations who have been discriminated against or harassed, wrongfully terminated, or retaliated against. As one of the few attorneys well-versed in public entity law in Los Angeles, he specializes in representing public sector employees, including law enforcement officers and firefighters.

Abel has managed cases alleging violations of the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), primarily involving various public entities, including the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, County of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles World Airport. The current list of protected categories under FEHA includes race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, or military and veteran status.

“I can often relate to my client’s experiences, which helps to frame the case throughout the litigation. I handle general employment and cases against public entities; however, my niche is Public Entities. Not many employment lawyers have experience litigating cases against public entities. In doing so, I have primarily represented police officers and firefighters who have suffered from some form of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and a failure to accommodate their disabilities.” Abel’s ability to relate to his client’s individual story enables him to work unwaveringly on every case.

Over the years, cases that Abel has managed have been bolstered by defeating 25 motions for summary judgment and have led to impressive settlements that illustrate Abel Nair’s winning virtues:
