1 Dead and 2 Injured After 5 Freeway Accident in Irvine
Freeway Accident in Irvine Caused Death and Injuries
On the night of August 8, one person was killed and two others injured in a fiery multi-vehicle car crash on the 5 freeway in Irvine, according to authorities.
The fatal collision was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. on the northbound 5 freeway, south of Jamboree Road.
Emergency response personnel arrived at the scene to find multiple cars on fire. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and a burn victim and additional crash victim were taken to a hospital.
Investigators believe the chain reaction crash was caused by the driver of a 1994 Dodge van, who was driving at an unsafe speed when they failed to slow or stop for traffic ahead and rear-ended the vehicle driven by the fatal victim, which immediately erupted in flames. A total of five vehicles were involved.
“At this time, officials are still determining the circumstances of this tragic incident,” said a representative of Wilshire Law Firm. “Our thoughts go out to the victims and their loved ones.”
