Moreno Valley Car Fatal Accident
On the afternoon of July 13, a 55-year-old woman was killed and three others injured after a Moreno Valley car accident on Gilman Springs Road, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Officials said that the fatal car crash occurred about 1:50 p.m. west of the intersection of Gilman Springs Road and Bridge Street.
Nathan Lugo, 18, of Moreno Valley, was traveling east in a Mercedes when he started to drift into the path of a Toyota Corolla driven by Alexandra Quirarte, 21, also of Moreno Valley, in the opposite lane.
Quirarte attempted to evade the Mercedes by swerving left, but Lugo, thinking the same thing, swerved right. The two cars collided head-on in the eastbound lane.
Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Mercedes, Robert Espitia, 18, suffered serious injuries. The 55-year-old passenger in the Toyota suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Investigators are still looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in this tragic accident,” said a representative of Wilshire Law Firm.
