2 Injured in Car Accident Involving McLaren 650
On November 1, two people, including a 71-year-old man, were seriously injured in a collision between a $300,000 McLaren sports car and an Audi, according to officials.
The very expensive car accident happened at 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Platt Avenue and Califa Street in Woodland Hills.
James Harris, the senior driver of the Audi, was making a left turn from Platt Avenue onto Califa Street when his vehicle was broadsided by the McLaren.
Reports indicate that the lime-green 2015 McLaren 650 was being driven at a very high rate of speed leading up to the crash. It is believed that Relativity Media movie executive Kenneth Lynch was the driver.
Harris sustained multiple serious injuries that may require several weeks or even months of physical therapy.
Lynch was also seriously injured, but more details about his condition were not immediately released.
At this time, the investigation is still ongoing.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, speeding is the second leading cause of traffic accidents, contributing to about a third of all crashes in the nation. Many studies confirm the dangers of speeding. Basically, speeding increases not only the likelihood of an accident, but the potential severity of resulting injuries. The driver has less time to react to emergencies when he or she is not going with the flow of traffic. In short, speeding can kill.
