On July 15, two 20-year-old men from Marin were killed and several others were injured in a Pasadena accident involving a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 210, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The auto accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. A total of five vehicles were involved: a box truck, a Jeep Cherokee, a Buick, a Chevy CMC, and a Hyundai. Investigators believe the box truck triggered the chain reaction crash.
In the course of the accident, the Buick was crushed. Tristan Lee Witte, of San Rafael, was at the wheel of the Buick. He, as well as his passenger, a Novato man, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witte was known to be an active student, as well as an athlete and musician.
Four others sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the box truck was identified as Gabriel Lopez, 45, of Corona. The driver of the Jeep was Tyler Brubaker, 26, of Valencia. The driver of the Chevy was Reggie Pena, 55, of Perris. The driver of the Hyundai was Meredith Lee, 36, of Ventura.
“It is absolutely tragic what happened,” said a representative of Wilshire Law Firm. “These two young men had so much potential, so much going for them. We hope that their loved ones get answers and, more importantly, justice as a result of the ongoing investigation.”
