3 Injured in Fiery Accident on Highway 99, Including CHP Officer
On the night of June 22, a fiery car crash in Sutter County resulted in injuries to three people, including a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. at Highway 99 and Paseo Avenue.
Officer W. Bowling, 36, was attempting to make an enforcement stop on Highway 99 in a 2009 Crown Victoria patrol unit when her vehicle was struck by a Toyota 4Runner driven by Lucero Topete, 21, of Live Oak, who was following close behind.
Upon impact, the patrol unit stopped, while the Toyota to lost control and left the side of the road, striking a tree and catching fire.
The officer, Topete, and Topete’s passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Live Oak, were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
At the time of this report, the investigation of the crash is still ongoing.
