4-Month-Old Girl Killed in 110 Freeway Car Accident
On November 6, a 4-month-old girl sustained fatal injuries in a car accident involving three vehicles on the 110 Freeway close to Elysian Park, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The tragic crash occurred about 6:30 p.m. Officials said that Jared Silvestri, 26, of Pasadena, crashed his vehicle into a 2006 Chrysler as it was pulling over onto the right shoulder. This sent both vehicles crashing into a third vehicle.
The Chrysler contained a 48-year-old woman and two children, including the fatal victim. The woman and the other child, a 10-year-old boy survived, but with serious injuries.
The 35-year-old male driver of the third vehicle was not injured.
Silvestri was arrested on a felony DUI charge.
At this time, an investigation is underway.
Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most reckless things a driver can do. When you drive inebriated, you put not only yourself but also other people around you at risk of serious injury or even death. Alcohol diminishes your reflexes, your judgment, your movements – basically, it affects your whole body and mind. Combine this with operating a two-ton high speed machine on wheels, and you have a recipe for disaster. There is only one thing that can be said about drunk driving: don’t do it. There are so many alternative transportation options available nowadays that there is simply no excuse for this egregiously irresponsible behavior.
If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident with a drunk driver, you may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.
