UPDATE: Authorities confirmed that there were actually five fatal victims.
On the evening of June 13, a large blaze engulfed a two story office building in Westlake, killing at least one person, according to authorities.
Three people were rescued from the fire, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say that the building was supposed to be vacant at the time of the incident and that all four were “unauthorized occupants”.
One of the survivors was interviewed by Los Angeles police as a “person of interest.” The investigation of the fire is still ongoing.
A total of 145 firefighters were called upon to knock down the blaze, which took around 2 hours and 20 minutes.
