Early June 17, one person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) after a multi-vehicle crash on the northbound 405 Freeway in Carson that resulted in the deaths of three people.
Sometime before 1 a.m., a white Toyota Prius collided with a pickup truck, causing both to end up in the carpool lane. Two passengers in the pickup truck stepped of the vehicle to survey the scene. A Good Samaritan in a passing Uber had his driver pull over so he could go out to help.
Tragically, the driver of a Toyota Camry was driving at freeway speeds when he came upon the accident. He attempted to take evasive maneuvers, but ended up striking the two pickup truck passengers and the Good Samaritan.
The three victims, all men in their 20s and 30s, died at the scene. The driver of the Prius was arrested on DUI charge.
At the time of this report, the investigation is still ongoing.
