El Cajon Teen Killed in Head-On Crash in Murrieta
Early June 12, an El Cajon teen sustained fatal injuries in a head-on collision in Murrieta, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The victim, a 17-year-old male, was driving along Murrieta Hot Springs Road about 1:20 a.m. with neither headlights nor seatbelt on when his 1990 Honda Accord, for reasons yet known, drifted into the wrong lane of traffic. He eventually crashed head-on with a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Both vehicles sustained major damage in the collision.
The driver of the truck, 45, of Murrieta, suffered minor injuries. The teen driver suffered major injuries and was later pronounced dead at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
Officials are looking into whether drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the fatal crash. At the time of this report, the investigation is still ongoing.
