The “MC Supreme” Case
Dewayne Lawrence Coleman, known by the stage name “MC Supreme,” was killed in a car accident on June 13, 2015. The accident occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. The family of Mr. Coleman pursued civil legal action in his wrongful death case. In addition to Mr. Torres (the driver that caused the fatal accident), the family’s attorneys held the local/state agencies responsible for the unsafe conditions of the Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu.
Mr. Coleman’s accident raised concerns about a growing number of serious and fatal crashes along the Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu. This accident, and similar accidents like the one involving Caitlyn Jenner, fueled public outcry for change. Celebrities, too, were vocal about change. Mr. Coleman’s family didn’t want his death to be in vain. They talked to the media about Mr. Coleman, his accident and the need to address safety on PCH.
The family of “MC Supreme” (Dewayne Coleman) and their attorney provided interviews to the media regarding Mr. Coleman’s death, the wrongful death case, and the unsafe state of the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) through Malibu, where the accident occurred. In addition to pursuing civil action against the driver that caused the accident, civil action was also pursued against the local/state agencies responsible for the unsafe conditions of the PCH in Malibu.
