Mother and Daughter Injured in Alhambra Hit-and-Run Accident
On the night of August 5, a mother and her 3-year-old daughter were struck and injured by a suspected drunk driver in an Alhambra hit-and-run accident, according to officials.
Investigators believe that El Monte resident Abundio Flores-Ramon was driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck the mother and daughter, who were pedesrians, at Main and Fourth Streets in Alhambra at 8:48 p.m.
Flores-Ramon then fled the scene and caused another crash four blocks away, injuring two additional people. All four victims and the drunk driver were taken to a hospital.
The mother and the two victims of the second crash were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. The daughter sustained serious injuries and remained hospitalized as of August 6.
Flores-Ramon was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving and felony hit and run. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 10.
“Drunk driving is a crime that endangers innocent lives,” said a representative of Wilshire Law Firm. “Nowadays there are so many transportation options that there is simply no excuse for this absolutely reprehensible behavior.”
