Oakhurst Woman Killed in Highway 41 Motorcycle Accident
Denise Kellerhals, 64, of Oakhurst, and her husband Lawrence, also 64 and of Oakhurst, were ejected from their motorcycle when they slammed into an SUV that pulled into their right-of-way on Highway 41 from River Falls Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The fatal motorcycle crash occurred shortly before 1:20 p.m. Both Kellerhals were traveling northbound on a blue Harley Davidson Softail when a gray Toyota 4-Runner SUV driven by Gary Shipp, of Texas, failed to yield the right of way to Lawrence, who was operating the motorcycle, and pulled in front of them. The Harley hit the front end of the Toyota, throwing the Kellerhals across the highway.
Both Denise and Lawrence were taken to an area hospital. Denise suffered major injuries and later died. Lawrence sustained moderate injuries. Shipp was uninjured.
“Another negligent motorist, another dead rider – this happens all too often,” said a representative of Wilshire Law Firm. “All we can hope is that the victims and their loved ones will get the justice and compensation they deserve.”
