Passenger Attempted to Steer SUV Before Fatal Crash in San Diego
Authorities say that a passenger was killed in a June 12 car crash on south Interstate 15 near Serra Mesa. They believe that the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the fatal accident.
According to witnesses, the woman passenger attempted to steer a silver SUV to safety before it overturned off the side of the freeway near Aero Drive and crashed into a parking lot off Murphy Canyon Road.
The driver was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries, while the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing.
