Person Killed in Pedestrian Accident Outside Hospital
On the early morning of November 8, a person was killed in a pedestrian accident that occurred outside a hospital in Van Nuys, according to police.
The fatal collision occurred about 2 a.m. near the intersection of Vanowen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard.
The victim had just been released from Valley Presbyterian Hospital when they were struck and killed by a vehicle that was traveling westbound.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released. At this time, the investigation is still ongoing.
Pedestrian accidents often result in serious injuries or even death to the pedestrian victim because the human body is very frail compared to two-ton motor vehicles. Even at low to moderate speeds, a car can fatally injure a person, especially if the victim sustains a head injury, spinal cord injury, and/or internal organ damage. Those who survive these accidents are often faced with exorbitant medical bills, lost wages, and other financial damages that put them and their families in serious debt. A pedestrian accident may take only a fraction of a second to occur, but the consequences can last a lifetime.
