Turlock Man Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver
On the early morning of August 7, 55-year-old Turlock man was killed in an accident with an alleged drunk driver, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The fatal DUI accident occurred about 2:35 a.m. at the intersection of Carpenter Road and West Main Avenue.
The victim, Ruedas Rafael Del Rio, had the right of way when he drove his Toyota Corolla east through the intersection and got slammed into by a northbound Acura driven by 24-year-old Raul Campos, of Escalon, who had sped right past a stop sign.
Investigators believe Campos was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
There was a passenger in Campos’ vehicle, 19-year-old Reina Reyes. She was transported to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries.
“Campos’ sheer disregard not just for road laws but human life is unacceptable,” said a representative of Wilshire Law Firm. “We hope that his victims and their loved ones find justice.”
