Woman Killed After Car Flips Off Pacific Coast Highway
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a vehicle flipped off the edge of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on the morning of June 9, killing one woman.
The fatal auto accident was reported just before 8:50 a.m. on northbound Pacific Coast Highway south of Deer Creek Road.
At this time, the known facts are that a green Ford XPL flipped off the PCH and crash landed onto the rocks 40 feet below. Investigators believe that the SUV’s damages indicate that it was struck by another vehicle before plummeting off the road. They estimate that the crash occurred late Wednesday or early Thursday.
The PCH was temporarily shut down and then reopened by Thursday afternoon. A helicopter was sent to the area to search for any other possible victims, but nobody else was found. The fire department and the air squad also responded to the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing.
