On the morning of July 6, a big rig overturned on Interstate 10 just east of Highway 111, killing one woman and sending another person to the hospital with serious injuries.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials said that the 2011 Kenworth truck was traveling west at around 5:40 a.m. when it collided with a light pole, overturned, and landed on its roof.
The fatal victim was resting without any safety restraints in the truck’s cabin at the time of the incident. She was declared dead about an hour and a half later.
The 42-year-old driver of the truck was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
After overturning, the semi truck spilled the blue PVC pipes it was hauling across the area.
At this time, investigators are still determining the cause of the tractor trailer crash.
