Things to Pack for a Bus Trip

Helpful Travel Advice from Knowledgeable Bus Accident Lawyers

Overland travel has many advantages. First of all, it saves you a lot of money. Then, you do not have to drive yourself overnight and worry about falling asleep. So, if you have time to spare, a bus trip is a great choice. Plus, it can even be fun and give you time to relax, think about important things and clear your head.

But when it comes to long bus trips, you have to know what to take with you. Otherwise, the ride may turn into a nightmare. Here are some useful tips on what things are a must-have on a bus trip.

Time passes faster when you are doing something interesting. So, depending on what you love, take your favorite things with you to entertain yourself during the trip. It could be anything. The most obvious choice, of course, is a book. It does not matter whether it’s an e-book reader or a regular paper book. Just take into consideration that your Kindle’s battery may die, or you may tire of the paper book. So, take a portable Kindle charger or a spare book just in case. Most buses have at least 2 plugs between the seats.

If you do not like reading, take a movie with you and watch it on a laptop or a tablet. Again, don’t forget to bring a charger for your device plus a comfy pair of headphones. Gadgets also give you the opportunity to play games or surf the internet as many buses have Wi-Fi. Do not rely on it too much though because the connection may be bad.

A magazine is another good choice. For some people, flipping through them is a way to keep themselves occupied.

Some people can’t sleep on a bus at all, while others doze off as soon as the bus takes off. In many states, the driver also has to stop every few hours for rest and refuel. Every time the bus stops, you will most likely wake up.

Still, sleeping is how many people spend time on a long bus trip, so take the following things to make your nap comfortable:

  • Eye mask
  • Ear plugs
  • Travel pillow
  • Melatonin (Take some only if necessary and remember to follow the instructions)
  • iPod/playlist (Many people like falling asleep to their favorite music)
  • A warm hoodie or a blanket (People tend to get cold when they are asleep)

Other important things

If you take any medicine, do not forget to pack them. In some cases, if you have asthma or diabetes, for example, the consequences can be very bad if you forget your medicine.

Always take snacks and enough water. Even though the bus will stop now and then and you can buy some from a gas station store, it is better to take care of everything beforehand.

Do not forget tissues, lotion, sanitizer and lip balm. Even if you are a man, those things may be very helpful. And a woman usually has all these things in her purse anyway.

Last but not least, make sure you have the phone numbers of trusted bus accident lawyers. It may seem like a strange choice, but unfortunately accidents happen. When you are far from home, you need to be sure you have someone protecting your interests. Wilshire Law Firm has many experienced and qualified bus accident lawyers who can help you.

We have listed a lot of stuff, but every one of them is very useful on a bus trip and you will regret not having it. It may seem like too much to bring with you, but you can easily pack all these things in a backpack. There are some backpacks which have a small lock on them. You should lock your backpack to your seat, so you don’t have to worry about anyone stealing it.
